4. Validate your findings (develop a conclusion, was your hypothesis correct)
If your conclusion is correct, somebody else should be able to repeat your experiment and
arrive at the exact same conclusion.
A hypothesis is an educated guess that needs further study
A theory is an explanation whose conclusion has been supported by many years of research. It
is NOT a guess like the colloquial term.
A law or a principle is an explanation stronger than a theory, it is essentially a fact (i.e. the law
of gravity).
Foraminifera or forams are unicellular ameba with small shells, are benthic (bottom dwellers).
Forams have existed for over 500 million years. They can tell us how deep, the temperature,
salient, or polluted a particular segment of the ocean is based on their health. For example, if a
foram is yellow, it means that the foram is dissolving meaning that segment of the ocean is very
