The field of diagnostic treatment and prevention of hearing loss and vestibular related issues (balance center). Clinician who is licensed to provide services in diagnostic treatment and prevention. Individuals (of all ages) have concomitant speech (both at the same time) or language difficulties. A close relationship between the 2 professionals is essential therefore, adequate familiarity and understanding of audiological concepts and procedures are crucial for slps. Hearing loss across the age span is a condition that can diminish the quality of life and impede the acquisition and maintenance of fundamental communication skills. The three populations who appear most affected by the presence of hearing loss at various stages of maturity are neonates, children, and the elderly. A baby that is born deaf, and has never heard, is gaining hearing. Someone who is born with hearing, but looses is it due to an illness or accident, but gains it back.
