Document Summary

Every living organism is made of one or more cells, 2. The smallest organisms are single cell, and cells are the functional units of multicellular organisms, 3. Nucleotides are linked together, forming a strand of nucleic acid, by bonds between the phosphate of one nucleotide and the sugar of the next nucleotide. Questions : know the three principles of cell theory. Every living organism is made of one or more cells. The smallest organisms are single cells, and cells are the functional units of multicellular organisms. Particular emphasis should be placed on nucleus, ribosomes, mitochondria, and chloroplasts. Chloroplasts are the site of photosynthesis, mitochondria are the site of cellular respiration: know what structures are found in what kind of cells (is a nucleoid found in eukaryotes or prokaryotes, etc). Table 4-1 and the venn diagram made in class should really help with this. Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus or membrane bound organelles (i. e. mitochondria, chloroplast, etc. )
