Gender- a social status that refers to differences between the sexes, specifically to differences in masculinity and femininity. Gender socialization- patterns of behavior taught to children and adults in order to help them learn to behave as acceptable females or males. Family- a group of kin united by blood, marriage, or adoption who shares a common residence for some part of their lives and assume reciprocal rights and obligations with regard to one another. Monogamy- the marriage of one man to one woman. Polygamy- the marriage of one man or woman to more than one person of the opposite sex at the same time. Sacred- involving objects and ideas that are treated with reverence and awe. Secular- denoting attitudes, activities, or other things that have no religious or spiritual basis.
