Document Summary

Hermes: son of zeus and maia : born in a cave away from the other gods. Maia put him in his cradle and then went about her business. Hermes got out of his crib and found a turtle outside the cave. He killed the turtle and cleaned out its shell. Attached wires to it and created the lyre: continued down the road until he found the place where the gods kept their cattle. Looked in the pens until he found apollo"s cattle. Decided he wanted some, so he took 50 cows and led them down the road backwards so the hoof prints pointed towards the pens and no one would know. Sacrificed 2 of the cattle as thanks for the good luck. Apollo goes to check on his cattle and notices that he is missing some of his cattle. Asks farmer if he noticed anything different and puts two and two together.
