Document Summary

Psyche and cupid- a king had three daughters, all of which were very beautiful. But the youngest daughter named psyche was the most beautiful. No one wanted to marry psyche because every man would get tongue-tied when around her; she was like a goddess among mortals. Because of her beauty, people began to neglect the goddess of beauty and love, venus in roman mythology (aphrodite in greek) and admire psyche more. Venus instructed her son, cupid, (eros) to make psyche marry and fall in love with a horrible monster, an ugly snake. So when cupid attempted to make psyche fall in love, her beauty made cupid fall in love with her. So he decided to not tell his mother. When the parents of psyche began to worry about the future of their daughter, they sought an oracle of the god, apollo.
