Logos is developing rational arguments, based on the best available evidence that are also clear and persuasive (also page 146) Logos is derived from the belief that humans are capable of making decisions based on logic, principles and evidence. The faith in the rationality of people is one of the primary justification of rhetoric. Decisions cant always be made through logic alone. It is when logic reaches its limit that we were forced to trust. Six primary types of warrants: warrant by authority. Rests on the assumed credibility of a source. Grounds: because my dad told me not to. Warrant (unstated): we should always do what my dad tells us: warrant by generalization. Draws a general conclusion about a group based on specific examples drawn from experience. My dog doesn"t like cats, so all dogs hate cats. Also known as specific example: warrant by analogy.
