Physical geography: the study of the components of, atmosphere, climatology. Weather systems: hydrosphere, hydrology, lithosphere, geology. Aeoliam processes: biosphere, soil profiles, ecosystems, soilmaps. How do geographers study geography: utilize spacial analysis tools to bring together topics from many different fields, creating an integrated whole-earth concept, geographers analyze the differences and similarities among these 5 spatial themes. Environmental systems theory: network of relationships, two types, open system, materials, energy, or info is exchanged between parts of system and external sources. The earth is the biggest open system: closed system, self-contained, often runs out of resources as there is no exchange with an outside source. Emergence: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts , the activities of an entire system cannot be fully understood by simply looking at what compromises the system.
