Kent state students protests were very rowdy, the protesters burn down the rotc building. Troops are brought in confused the troops opened fire killing a innocent bystander who was simply walking to class. Nixon promised south vietnm that the us would be back to protect them if needed. South vietnam didn"t want to take part in this treaty because they were afraid. Nixon wanted a decent interval b/w the time we leave and south vietnam falls.
