Slide 3- good overview of components of blood. Stimulus: interrupts homeostasis!: oxygen delivery decreases, caused by aerobic exercise, loss of blood (injury, disease, hypoxia: low level of oxygen, ref (renal erythropoietin factor) Iron is transported back to myeloid tissue and is used in new blood cell. Monocyte very large phagocyte; slow activating, but very strong responder; 10-20 hours in blood m/yr in tissue: some can become the macrophage, which can live up for a year in the tissue. Leukocyte disorders (mono); accumulated by stress: leukemia: cancerous condition of the white blood cells, acute: early onset, childhood leukemia; progresses very rapidly, chronic: slower onset, comes later in life, can take many years to show up. Fibrinogen: protein involved in blood clotting process, active in repairing a rupture vessel. Heart structure: apex of the heart: inferior and slightly left, base: superior border is on the superior side.
