Document Summary

In the space provided, answer each of these questions with one complete, grammatically correct sentence: briefly describe the conditions upon which the soundness of a deductive ethical argument depends. In order to be a sound argument, the argument must be valid, and its premises must be true. It is a valid argument if given the premises, the conclusion necessarily follows from the premises. Morality consists of what persons ought to do in order to conform to society"s norms of behavior, whereas ethical theory concerns the philosophical reasons for and against aspects of social morality. Morality looks at the social construct in a society while ethical theory looks at the justification of the practices. Factual premises are derived from the case that you are looking at. While the factual premises depend upon the case for evaluating the truth, you need to look at the principle that applies to the case.
