Cross-functional- bringing people together from different parts of the organization to work on some issue. Virtual- using technology to bring together all different peoples from the world or nation. Self-managed- the team itself is taking the function of all management operations. These stages are not interdependent, you could be at two steps at the same time and stepping backwards is not abnormal. These stages are not linear meaning that they do not all occur as they are supposed to. There are conflicts at all stages of development. This model does not take into consideration the situational factors.
