(Abstract):
Purpose:
How to use the position indicator to accurately determine the elongation of the
spring. It is important to learn and practice how the proper techniques of
measurements by determining the uncertainties, graphical representations, and least-
squares analysis.
Procedure:
The first step is attaching the spring to its hanger rod. One then may or may not
add mass to keep the coils on the spring separated. Then next step is to stretch the
spring to its max of 25cm, by adding mass. Carefully record your initial position of the
indicator on your data sheet and the mass. Finally, repeat these steps with the second
spring and record all information found.
