Document Summary

1/20: walzar"s project, not opposed to war but there must be a distinction between good and bad wars. Theory of a just war: nuremburg trials, not speaking about law of war. Speaking about morality of war: moral understanding of what is just and unjust. Against relativism: walzar argues agianst it, what is relativism - doctrine that right and wrong does not follow the moral realities. There is no such thing as right and wrong, just different opinion s, human invention. No sense in arguing about different values (people have different tastes) "cant make value judgments: who are you to judge someone else"s values, cultural relativism. If relativism is true, there can not be an agreement. Every war is a clash of values: humans are always making judgments. Against realism: realism - even if we can settle on matters of morality in domestic politics, war is different. Judge for themselves what they have to do.
