This is the committee the gov. always packed his favorite people into and made sure the bills he wanted passed went through that committee. 1960s-television emerged; politics was radio before that; national news saturated the market, especially states that were seen as corrupt like la; rise of good government; Television led to a lot of reform in government, including civil rights; showing people being beaten had greater effect that just print and radio stories about it.
