Document Summary

The iowa algebra aptitude test fifth edition. The iowa algebra aptitude test, fifth edition (iatt) is given to pre-algebra students in grades seven and eight. The purpose of this test is to help teachers with the placement of students in the secondary mathematics curriculum. It is also used to show the parent whether a student is ready for algebra. The test has no information on test-retest reliability or alternate-forms reliability, but does offer information regarding internal consistency reliability. The internal consistency reliability estimates . 90 or better, which shows it is reliable enough to make judgments about the examinees. When looking at the subtest scores though, the consistency is not the same. The estimated reliabilities of the different scores among each subtest are as low as . 30, which would make someone extremely cautious when looking over the examinees scores. In the technical manual of this edition, evidence of validity is lacking.
