Statistics: 1% of population, usually develops in early adulthood, can emerge at any time, generally chronic, affects males and females equally, strong genetic component (twins and parents) Predispositions are inflexible and maladaptive, causing distress and/or impairment. Thought to begin in childhood and manifested in adulthood. Cluster b dramatic, emotional, erratic; antisocial, borderline, histrionic, narcisstic.
