Bases group on focus and organization: small, single focus, informal, equality, f2f (people who play together, getting together to do the single thing, party, same as small, but it is multifocal, ex. Small firms, one acct. one designer, etc: large, formal, status differentiation, like a photo of employees. Intimate (knows things about you other people didn"t: f2f, strong influence, primary groups, been through a lot together, understand each other, been through many of the same things. Meaning as known by the individual in the center of it. Apartheid: s. africa ruled by small group of white dutchmen, what is so odd about it is that the population is not greatly white. In group/ out group: useful in describing groups with power inequality.
