Behaviorism- looks at all human behavior through stimuli and response: stimulus- sound, touch, visual, temperature- through our senses we become aware of stimulus. Behavior began with animal psychology: stimuli comes in rewards or punishment, physical or psychological, we behave in societies eyes in a good way we get positive stimulus and vice verse. We begin doing what we get rewarded for and stop doing what we get punished for: b. f. skinner operant conditioning - human behavior comes through the system of rewards and punishment. *our behavior isn"t determined by our habits: exchange theory- for any course of action they do a cost/benefit analysis. Each person expects to gain something from that person. If the rewards outweigh the cost/risks, then we will engage in that behavior and vice versa. consider the fact that different people will value things differently.
