Because basic psychological motives are complex and come from a number of sources, many people are unconscious of why they do the things they do: types of motives. Murray (the founder of the tat) looked for themes in the tat stories that fell into three basic categories: urges, desires, wishes, need for achievement, need for power, need for affiliation. Human motives are employed to satisfy certain needs. Persistent than others and want to be described as hard working. Look for a job or have control over punishment.
