Document Summary

Be able to explain what the rig veda says about the absolute beginning of things. The rig veda is the oldest indo-european text of the early indian philosophies. The rig vedas had two theories about the abot. Their 1st theory was that the first cause was started by something. This was problematic because if something caused the 1st cause then the initial something would be the 1st cause. The 2nd theory was that the 1st cause happened uncaused. This was problematic because it violated the initial argument that nothing happens uncaused. Know how it"s different from the path of joy. The path of pleasure is a pursuit of material pleasures in life. It is a path of indugence in material things to give yourself happiness. This is that you indulge in food, sex, money and power. This leads to a life of fleeting happiness. It is a very much self fulfilling and self centered life.
