As long as the air pressure below the vf"s exceeds the air pressure above the vf"s. Increasing subglotal pressure increases intensity and blows vfs further apart. Vfs open from botom to top, close from botom to top. The minimum subglotal pressure required to iniiate vocal fold oscillaion. Complex: muliple freq. are produced; f0 is lowest freq. produced; harmonic freq.
