Definition: archaeology is a collection of methods and themes developed to interpret the past by studying the material remains of human behavior. Anthropological archaeologists study changes throughout history in human behavior in order to understand the nature of culture. Without anthropology, archaeology is just a method for collecting buried information and artifacts. Place artifacts, events, and patterns in chronological order (re) construct past life ways. Examines how or if people contribute to environmental deterioration. Reconnects people from different places to these origins. Gives temporal perspective to history, identity, race, etc. Provides fresh answers to new and old questions about humans. It is just one way to approach information.
