In the lab- measure the absorbance of all three samples in wsc assay and determine the amount of wsc in silage extracts (calculate wsc concentrations in your pre-fermented and fermented samples). We expect to find that the wsc content of the extract of the initial chopped corn will be higher than the wsc content of both fermented samples. The prefermented extract should have highest ph (because wsc has not produced lactic acid through fermentation). As a result of fermentation, the wsc content and the ph will be lower in the extracts made from the fermented chopped corn that was well-chopped and vacuumed (the good silage jar).
