Summary: think hard, don"t let emotions cloud your thinking, only. Values are pretty universal, and may contradict common practices in some cultures. Decision rule: must be compatible with ethic rules of community in which one is doing business. Accepts variations in cultural norms without succumbing to ethical relativism. Concept of a hypernorm is vague, hard to determine between those and competing cultural norms. Hypernorm: broadly shared across cultures, supported by the laws of many different cultures. Ethic of care: focus on relationships and responsibilities (suppliers, customers) The care approach has the advantage of responding flexibly to particular harm or suffering, disadvantage of seeming arbitrary and unfair. Objectivism: decision rule focused on the pursuit of rational or enlightened self- interest.
