Speciesism: giving preference to our own species over another in the absence of morally
relevant differences
Indirect Duties:
-We have no direct duties to animals, but rather indirect duties
-Indirect duty: duties that we have to animals are rather duties we have to people, i.e. can’t
violate a person’s property
Duties argument means:
1. No human being feels pain
2. Both human and animal feel pain, but only the human pain matters

· Treating them more “humanely” in the process doesn’t solve the actual problem; in
the end, you’re still murdering the animal
