We discussed 4 or 5 reasons in class: perspectives are more general than theories, training is different depending on where you are, differences in publishing, different acceptance, different culture than in other sciences. Perspective are not theories, they are not as precise as theories, and they are much more general than theories. They involve broad, untestable assumptions about individuals and society.
