Consciousness is an incomprehensible thing at which we face the limits of our wits. Behavioral characteristics of consciousness: being awake, moving by oneself (by virtue of internal drives/control), responding to externally generated information. This behavior is discriminative and coordinated forming various patterns. Integrated behavior: once the working principles will be understood, the gigantic complexity of the processes involved will still make us despair . Cognitive capacities: that one is conscious of something then means one knows" of it by virtue of such capacities . Collective knowledge: consciousness concerning the environment has increased . Individual knowledge: he wasn"t aware of the consequences . Perception: in the dark i wasn"t aware of the fence . Memory: i am aware of having said this . Attention: only now had i become aware of the noise, i hadn"t noticed it earlier . Knowledge of ones own mental states: reflexive knowledge.
