Sources of belief- why we belief the things we do: Mythbusters video: take something that people don"t believe and observe and found out there was some truth (elephants afraid of mice). This was actual data from the world, need to modify our beliefs. Method of tenacity: we believe something because its been around for a long time. Tenacity means you hold on to it. (ex. You"ve heard it a lot so assume truth. Method of authority/faith: we believe something because some you trust/expert/authority figure says its true. (medical diagnosis, mom/dad tell you about tooth fairy, car repair person tells you you need a new car). Method of intuition: believe something because it seems right to you. Makes sense. (coin toss will land on tails since its been on heads, hands free devices are safer than holding a cell phone) both of these make sense and seem true.
