Note the appearance of the skin, umbilicus, and contour (scaphoid - concave vs. perturbant - bulging); note any surgical scars, spider telangiectasias. Distention: buildup of abdominal fluid and gas. Constipation, ascites (due to an increase in hydrostatic pressure from cirrhosis) Bs: tinkling sounds produced by peristaltic movement of fluid and air (forward churning of intestinal contents) Patient in supine position, stand to the right of the patient.
