When i first entered uwp 1, i considered the class as just a prerequisite course i am required to take. I honestly was not really looking forward to the course, since i struggled with writing, dreaded writing essays, and did not enjoy my english classes in high school. However, uwp 1 changed my perspective on writing by teaching me more about rhetoric and writing skills, which gave me more confidence in my writing ability. At the beginning of the quarter, i did not know what rhetoric meant. For one homework assignment, i was to define rhetorical terms, and even after defining such words, i still did not clearly understand their meanings. Following course assignments encouraged practicing rhetorical analysis, and this is when i realized i needed to grasp the concept of rhetoric to succeed in this class. I searched for many examples online to get a better understanding of rhetoric and to continue the work in the class.
