Humanities core fall 2017 final exam review guide. The final exam is cumulative, with the exception that the short answer and passage analysis sections emphasize material we studied after the midterm. The final will have three sections: short answer section (answer 6 out of 8, 48%), passage analysis section (analyze one passage, 26%) and essay section (answer 1 out of 2 essay prompts, 26%). Instead, it offers a number of suggestions and some strategic remarks with list of key words, phrases, and concepts to follow. Because humcore is about thinking/analyzing/synthesizing rather than simply memorizing/regurgitating, a traditional review sheet wouldn"t be of much use. Instead, you need to show understanding of and engagement with the course texts and ideas, and the arguments the lecturers made about them. This is not a substitute for reading the material or carefully reviewing your notes, but will instead (i hope) push you to do both.
