This law gives the president of the united states the authority to, by presidential proclamation, create national monuments from federal lands to protect significant natural, cultural, or scientific features. The act has been used over a hundred times since its passage. Specific for things found federally owned land not natural resources or cultural resources on private land. Organized fed sites etc into national park service so that the government can keep track. The historic sites act of 1935 was enacted by the united states congress largely to organize the myriad federally own parks, monuments, and historic sites under the national park service and the united states secretary of the interior. The national historic preservation act ( nhpa ) is legislation intended to preserve historical and archaeological sites in the united states of america.
