He replenishes the roman army with slaves after most of the infantry are defeated by hannibal: cannae - in 216 bc, the consuls decided to meet hannibal once and for all and deal him a knockout blow. Both consular armies march to meet hannibal in southern italy, at cannae. This battle was known as the worst disaster in roman history because almost 150 thousand men died over 2 years.
