Encoding: creating messages to send (e. g. over text, or thinking before speaking ftf) Decoding: translating the communication/symbols given to you into things you understand. Lol laugh out loud; understanding what words mean. Transactional qualities: a trade, we give each other stuff. Competent communication: effective and appropriate communication for a given situation; Interdependability and irreversibility where the communicators are aware of their processes of communication.
