Document Summary

History of evolutionary: describe the two main tenets of darwin"s origin of species, and know what year the book was published. The two main tenets of darwin"s origin of species is descent with modification and natural selection. Descent with modification is defined as evolution and is a phrase that was used by darwin in proposing that earth"s many species are descendants of ancestral species that were different from the present day species as a pattern. Natural selection is a mechanism that produces the observed pattern of change as a process. Origin of species was published in 1859: describe the prevailing view regarding evolution and species in europe in the 1800s. The prevailing views at the time regarding evolution and species in europe was that each species was created individually by god via special creation . Paleontologists were finding fossils and documenting extinctions and changes over time (hinted at the pattern, but not the process)
