The taliban organization that formed in the early 1990"s consisted of a group of men who took a radical approach to interpreting islam (laub 1). The taliban started out small, but quickly gained followers with the political turmoil following the soviet invasion. The afghans" fortune changed in 1995, when the taliban began controlling various parts of afghanistan and denying women rights such as education, work, health care and political roles.
