You either have one main id, 2 main ids (rwanda), or many. Ethno-political: getting or wanting power: politicization adds more power into a group. Ethnicity: common background, cannot choose, part of social id. Nationality: loyalty to the state, can change, always political. Primordialism: belief that id is implanted at birth, cannot be change, and is solid. Constructionism: socially constructed/ flexible, socializing agents. Family, politics, friends, outside forces that influence you. State capacity: control and ability to carry out its designated responsibilities and functions. Legibility: state"s ability to understand its population: so state can accurately extract resources.
