Transformaion- becoming something else; sex, drugs, dreaming, theater. Storytelling to make sense of our life, our life is our own story and we can"t escape it. Ritual- trying to control your luck, alter reality, get in touch with another world. (tradiion) Ceremony- making something holy in someone else"s eyes. There is always a comic vice present (e. g. ocd princess image of a girl going out to class, everything must be perfect/ jock meathead dumb in school but good at sports). Happy ending that has something to do with unity/ marriage. There are heightened emoions at the cost of the character. The music is integral to the drama that happens within the play. Gives reinforcement of how we wish the world could be. Thought/ idea is the most important element in these plays. Good vs. evil is usually the theme, a lot of polarity. To teach a lesson of christ/ related to the bible readings.
