Import substitution industrialization: put up barriers to trade with developed countries and build your own industries use abundant factors of production (labor) instead of capital critiques: lack of competition to force innovation. Export led industrialization: produce cheap goods where you have comparative advantage develop that niche and invest returns in building industries that make things of more value.
