Odysseus convinces achilles to let the men eat something first. All through breakfast, achilles doesn"t eat because he is mourning his friend patroclus" death. Zeus finds this moving, so he sends athena down to fill achilles stomach with nectar & ambrosia to keep him from being hungry during battle. Achilles gets his chariot ready for battle. As he does so, he chastises his horses, roan beauty & charger, for leaving. Roan beauty tells him it was not him, but a god who let patroclus die & that the same is fated for achilles.
