Document Summary

Eye lens creates image of object onto retina. Retina has ~125 mil photoreceptors (rods and cones) Which part of eye is responsible for most of bending of light: cornea! Most of bending occurs at air-cornea interface. Although lens has greater n than cornea (n = lens > cornea > vitreous fluid) Ciliary muscles around lens change its shape and focal length. The eye can focus on objects both close and far. Tense = close object: tense up = bend lens = more curved = tightly focused image on retina. Person with almost normal vision (near point = 26 cm) is standing in front of plane mirror. What is closest distance to mirror where person can stand and see himself in focus: 13 cm, image from mirror (behind mirror to mirror = 13cm) becomes object for eye (mirror to eye = 13 cm)
