AEROSP 225 Study Guide - Midterm Guide: Isentropic Process, Control Volume

76 views2 pages

Document Summary

Almost all of you got this problem right. Each part was assigned 3 points, which were then distributed among identifying the right equation or principle, make necessary assumptions and calculations. The grade also included proper use of rounding and significant figures. Typically, improper use of rounding of significant figures was penalized with -0. 5 or -1 pts. The problem included most of the definitions and analysis we carried over in thermodynamics. The main difficulty was on the proper use of definitions (for example, isentropic does not mean work = 0). I invite you all to review the definition sheet i distributed on the first day of class. Improper use of the first and second law was also observed. There was also some confusion between control mass and control volume approaches. Grading for this problem accounted for solving the problem as a whole, not necessary for each individual steps. This was particularly so for part 2, which required many steps.
