Document Summary

During my first few semesters of teaching biochemistry courses i heard many students ask the most dreaded question in all of academia: do we need to know ? . Our job as instructors is to impart as much information on students as possible during the term. Your job as a student is to learn as much as possible. In reality, there is much more biochemistry that should be in an introductory course, such as bio. Mcdb 310, than we can possibly teach and you can possibly learn. Thus, the task becomes more difficult in practice. You must learn as much as is reasonable, and i must sort through all of the information and impart on you what is possible. In that light, it became clear to me that offering students an outline of the most important information in biochemistry answered that infernal question.
