The types of cities and countries experiencing the fastest urban growth today are countries that are still developing. As they industrialize, better health conditions and availability of food/better nutrition allows the population to live longer and reproduce more, therefore growth occurs: give two definitions of sprawl. The five negative impacts are transportation, health, land use, economics, and pollution. Sprawl effects transportation by forcing people to drive cars and creating an automobile-oriented culture, which increases dependence of fossil fuels. It effects pollution through carbon dioxide emissions from cars, nitrogen-and-sulfur containing air pollutants causing acid rain, and motor oil and road salt pollute water ways.
