Document Summary

A---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------: name and explain the different risk factors involving suicide: discuss individual factors associated with suicide (both attempts and completions) as well as joiner"s interpersonal psychological theory of suicide. Suicide is a very somber topic among society. Around 15% of people with serious depression eventually commit suicide. Not only is depression a big contributor to suicide, but gender, culture/ethnicity, and age also help play a part. People who commit suicide believe it is their only option. Linehan explains it as a room with only one door. In gender, women tend to have more attempts than men. But in terms of actually going through and completing suicide, men have the higher rate. This is mainly due to the fact that men choose more deadly methods than women. Among cultures and ethnicities, religion is not actually a strong factor. It has to do less with strong religious prohibitions and more to do with discrimination, poverty, and social problems that arise.
