Research shows that electroconvulsive shock can cause very sever depressive episodes to remit. Increased energy, erratic appetite, increased libido, decreased sleep. Any patient who has a hypomanic episode will eventually have mania. Mood disorders include not only symptoms of mood and affect, but also changes in thinking (cognition)
