Soul + study field includes both normal and abnormal the scientific study of: mind behavior brain. This is what sets us apart from others in science. Psychology is considered a soft science since we do gather data, but we have no absolute truths and no laws of psych. No two people are the same so psych is very situational based. Reciprocal determinism: behavior is determined by self interacting with others and the environment. Environment can be the same, but their personality will make the setting change. Similar to psych: more observation based while philosophy in more thought based. Everything we know we learned from experience (empiricism) We are born with innate knowledge and ideas. Natural selection we inherit genes that will be make us better at solving survival problems. Nature vs. nuture greatest debate in psychology . Structuralism we need to break down thoughts into their smaller, most basic parts. Wanted to know how thoughts and thought processes work.
