There are different points at which the chemically dependent person crosses the wall or feels the desire to satisfy an overwhelming need to balance levels of neurotransmitters which become imbalance in the chemically dependent brain. 2nd sign: physical addiction is not chemical dependency, chemical dependency is the disease, physical addiction is only a symptom. 3rd sign: blackouts: loss of memory, can happen before crossing the wall. 4th sign: physical damage: trauma, brain damage. 5th sign: psychological damage: depression, anxiety, brain damage. 6th sign: abnormal tolerance: the dependent person is shown to start with an unusually high tolerance and exceed 10x the amount it would take to kill a normal person.
