Document Summary

Conflict is the difference in what you want and what someone else wants. Interdependence perceived incompatible goals perceived scarce resources- the ability to do something, limited amount of time, not enough money to do everything you want to do. Latent conflict-when the potential for conflict exists conflicting goals. Escalation-when you are in conflict and engaged in the fight/discussion- you are agumentative and are having a good time. Resolution-if you don"t get to the resolution you will not be satisfied, you have expressed your feelings about the situation. Avoidance, (semantic focus, postponement)- hate conflict, low concern for self and doesn"t engage in conflict. Competition, (presumptive attribution, prescription)- total concern for yourself and your opinion- the urge to win takes over the actual conflict. Compromise- lose/lose situation- do what you need to do to resolve the conflict. Accommodation- has concern for the other person"s opinion, you express yours but don"t necessarily fight to get what you want.
